Summer is coming. For those of you who have been lamenting since Labor Day your inability to acceptably wear white, your day of reckoning is near. Whether you're hitting up your favorite store for some new threads or simply shaking off the mothballs from storage, here are a few tips on how to pull off the various elements of your white ensemble this season.
JEANS
For a long time, the idea of wearing white jeans was anathema to most dudes. But those days are over. Particularly when complimented by the right blazer and footwear, that white denim will be a popping look for summer. And remember: just because they're white doesn't make them religious vestments. Relax and wear them like any other pair of jeans.
T-SHIRT
You might think choosing a white T is the simplest decision you can make. But there are actually so many different directions you can take this clean, classic look. On the one end, there is the bargain bin 3-pack from your local corporate mega store. On the other, there are designer options that start inching closer and closer to the $100 mark. Like with all things in life, perhaps it's best to aim for somewhere in the middle. Our recommendation is a white organic fine jersey from American Apparel. It's a great canvas upon which to build the rest of your outfit, but also stands up all on its own. And it costs just under 20 bucks. Can't beat that.
JACKET
Whether you're sporting the quasi-tuxedo look like Kanye, or keeping a more traditional sport jacket feel like R-Patz, white blazers aren't just for Don Johnson anymore. That said, if you find yourself suddenly yearning to listen to "In the Air Tonight" as you cruise through town, don't resist the urge.
SNEAKERS
Footwear is the foundation of any great outfit, and Reebok Classic’s new White Hot collection has some pretty great options for slick white kicks. The collection features two style categories: Retro, with sweet sneaks like the DMX Run 10, and the Twilight Zone Pump, and Iconic, which boasts models like the Classic Leather and the Phase 1.
HAT
Obviously, what style hat you choose to sport is totally up to you. But whether it be a fedora, baseball cap or beanie, white is probably the most seasonably appropriate shade you can find. What's more, it reflects the sun's rays away from your noggin, keeping you cool and dry all day and night.
