Jonathan Andic, son of the co-founder of global fast-fashion brand Mango, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his father.
TMZ reports that on Tuesday (May 19), Barcelona police apprehended Jonathan Andic for his purported involvement in Isak Andic’s death. The 71-year-old died in December 2024 after falling 328 feet off a cliff in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona during a family hike.
While several relatives were on the trail that day, Jonathan Andic was the only one with his father when he fell. The death was initially thought to be an accident. However, last year, Andic became central to the authorities’ homicide investigation and consistently denied any wrongdoing, also describing his father's death as a tragic accident.
Isak Andic co-founded Mango in 1984, building it into a retailer with a worldwide following. At the time of his death, Forbes estimated his net worth to be roughly $4 billion. Jonathan and his sisters have since assumed control of the company.
After being questioned by police in Catalonia, the 45-year-old younger Andic was taken to court in handcuffs, where his bail was set for 1 million euros (the equivalent of $1.16 million) and he was required to surrender his passport, per Reuters.
He later made bail, though he cannot leave the region, and is obligated to report to the court every week.
