NFL free agency is in full swing and it's getting pretty crazy. Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots and we now know that the Carolina Panthers are moving on from Cam Newton and allowing him to find a new team via trade. With a player like Newton, health will be the most important thing, but when he's right, he's one of the most dynamic QBs in the NFL. Plenty of teams should be interested in Newton and in the right situation, he could easily return to his MVP form. With a number of QB-needy teams out there, the bidding for Newton should be intense and add even more drama to an already wild NFL free agency period.
With Newton officially on the trade block, the Complex Sports team put together a list of five NFL teams that should trade for Cam Newton in the coming days.
Chicago Bears
This seems like the most likely destination for Cam in 2020. The Bears probably need to move on from Mitch Trubisky and their win-now roster would be perfect for Newton going forward. It remains to be seen how good of a coach Matt Nagy really is, but the Bears have weapons and one of the best defenses in football. Adding Newton to the mix could bring the Bears back to the playoffs.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins will surely be picking a QB in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2020. However, they should still look at all options to improve at QB, which would obviously include Cam Newton. Not only would this make sense football wise, but Cam's fits down in Miami would be a sight to behold.
New England Patriots
With Tom Brady officially leaving the Patriots, it makes a whole lot of sense for the Patriots to go after Cam Newton via a trade. Who knows that the Panthers want in return, but Newton surely still has something left in the tank and would be a terror in the Patriots system.
Washington Redskins
With Ron Rivera now in Washington, this is a natural fit for Newton. The Redskins drafted Dwayne Haskins last season, but it's clear that he wasn't really ready to start in the NFL. With Newton, the Redskins could compete immediately and have him groom Haskins for the future. This one makes a ton of sense.
Las Vegas Raiders
Yes, they just signed Marcus Mariota and they already have Derek Carr, but could are either of those guys worth not pursuing a player like Cam Newton? I don't think so, becuase when healthy, Newton is one of the most dynamic QBs in the NFL. Health is obvioulsy a big concern, but it sounds like Newton is ready to go. The Raiders should be all over this.
