Loads of cars these days boast brake-regeneration hybridization; in fact, there might even be one in your driveway right now. But Audi is cooking up a new batch of hybrid tech that draws its power from a source you might not expect.

Bumps. Audi has successfully produced a hybrid suspension that recoups energy from suspension movement, which will eventually be available on production models.

The automaker isn’t exactly pouring out details on its new system, but it’s believed that the hybrid dampers will draw heat energy from suspension compression to power the car’s hybrid-drive batteries, ancillary electrical systems, or even work in reverse as an electrically ‘independently variable suspension’ – good for your wallet and cornering speed.
