Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair has been released from prison

Speaking to Antoinette Media after getting out of Fort Dix FCI in New Jersey, Telfair explained his state of mind. “I feel good,” he said. “I feel rehabilitated. I did what I had to do and took care of myself. Now, I’m going to get back to my babies.”

Telfair was ordered to prison back in August due to his involvement in a $4 million health care fraud scheme that involved 18 NBA players. At the time, he hoped that he would receive a pardon from Donald Trump.

"I'm mad," he said at the time. "I don't wanna be doing no federal time and all that. You know, I'm a good person and done so much good shit for people and for my community... Shouldn't be doing no time for no community service."

In a docuseries about his final days before going to prison, Telfair explained why he had to move back to the projects after making millions in the NBA.

“The day I picked up a basketball was the day I was for sure knowing I was going to make it out,” Telfair said in the series. “After being the No. 1 player in New York City history, I turned that dream into a reality. I played over 10 years in the NBA and made tens of millions of dollars. I had everything I ever dreamed of.”

“But after a series of legal issues and personal problems, my life has become something I could never imagine,” Telfair continued. “I’m right back to where it all began. Back in Coney Island, back in the projects, back in the fire.”

While behind bars, Telfair did reportedly speak to Diddy in November, according to pictures obtained by TMZ.

Since Telfair is now out, he’ll probably have some conditions to meet to stay free. He won’t be able to consume drugs or alcohol, and he’ll have to take a class and write a paper about what he’s learned and how he’ll apply that to his financial health.
