Montana Yao, Wife of Detroit Pistons' Malik Beasley, Files for Legal Separation

This comes years after Beasley was reportedly spotted with Larsa Pippen.

Malik Beasley’s wife, Montana Yao, has reportedly filed for legal separation, just one day before the fifth anniversary of their wedding.

TMZ reports that Yao cited “irreconcilable differences” in the filing and is seeking spousal support. The filling comes just one day before their fifth wedding anniversary, according to People.

This isn’t the first time that the two were headed in the wrong direction. Back in 2020, Yao filed for divorce from Beasley after nine months. Their marriage seemed to be rocky after Beasley was spotted holding hands in public with Larsa Pippen.

Yao reacted to the pictures on her Instagram Story where she revealed that she was blindsided by the situation. “Wow… I don’t even know this man..” she wrote. “This is wild y’all I’m seeing it for the first time just like y’all.”

Yao eventually began posting about the rough patch in her marriage. “Things have been pretty rough I’m not going to lie,” she said. “There have been no public or private addressing of the situation, nor any type of apology.”

Beasley would apologize months later with a public message to Yao.

“I wanna say sorry for putting you in the situation you were put in the last few months.. my head wasn’t were it was supposed to be.. I was looking for more when it was right here that whole time.. I’m telling the world and you that there’s no body like you for me,” Beasley wrote in a post.

Yao and Beasley eventually worked through their issues and remained together for five years. They share two children together — Makai, who was born in 2019 before their near-divorce, and Mia, who was born in 2022.

Regardless of the issues that he has going on at home, Beasley’s been having a productive season. The guard, who was drafted by the Nuggets in 2016 and has also played for the Timberwolves, Jazz, Lakers, Bucks, and Pistons, is currently averaging 16.6 points with 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field for the Detroit Pistons.
