The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that rookie Travis Hunter will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

The NFL team sent out an official release revealing that Hunter underwent "successful surgery to repair an isolated lateral collateral ligament injury in his right knee.”

Though he’s out for the season, Hunter is expected to return within six months to “full football activities.”

The 22-year-old football player was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 31, one day after suffering a noncontact injury during practice.

Before the injury, Hunter recorded his best offensive performance of the season, catching eight passes for 104 yards and scoring his first NFL touchdown, despite a 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Hunter finishes his rookie season with 28 receptions for 298 yards, 15 tackles, three pass defenses, and one touchdown.

Earlier this year, Hunter went viral after a passenger on a United Airlines flight posted about how polite he was.

The passenger was Sandy Hawkins Combs, a woman who was in awe of the “nicest young man” who sat next to her. “He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray,” wrote Combs on Facebook. “He was always polite, saying ‘yes ma’am 'or ‘no ma’am.” Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson — so polite.”

“People walking by were saying congratulations, great job, or even taking pictures,” she continued. “I turned and asked him, ‘Who am I sitting next to?’ I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, ‘Are you an athlete?’ He smiled and said, ‘I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.’ I already told my sons I want his jersey.”
