After winning his match against Israel Adesanya, UFC fighter Dricus Du Plessis took some time to troll Drake for betting against him.
Before the fight, Drake posted a screenshot of his bet — wagering $450,000 that Adesanya would win. Drake’s got a long history of wagering on UFC fights, and he’s never bet against Adesanya, so he probably saw this as a quick way to win and earn $855,000.
Unfortunately for him, the “Drake curse”—the belief that Drizzy supporting a person or team in sports —was in full effect. Du Plessis took down Adesanya in the fourth round via submission, so Drake lost his wager.
Du Plessis celebrated his dub by thanking Drake on X, writing, “From the bottom of my heart once again THANK YOU @Drake."

Though Drake just suffered an L in the sports world, he continues to be very invested in helping people succeed. Earlier this month, the Canadian star was revealed to be an instrumental factor in helping the Venezia Football Club to avoid potentially filing for bankruptcy.
In a recent GQ Italy story, Drake’s chief brand officer Matte Babel revealed how the two helped raise 10 million euros in a matter of weeks.
"Venice is an incredible city and Venezia has always been a special club," Babel said. "I spoke to Drake, then Brad (Katsuyama, Venezia co-owner) and I discussed how we could help. Within two weeks we settled on terms, and raised the money needed to make payroll and avoid bankruptcy."
In addition to fundraising assistance, the group also got new kits that were made in collaboration with Drake’s brand, NOCTA.
