Dallas Mavericks were devastated after Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers over the weekend. So devastated in fact, that a few of them brought a coffin to the American Airlines Center and held a symbolic funeral for their former star.

After they dropped the coffin on the ground in front of the arena, one of the fans drops to his knees and yells “WHY?” very loudly — presumably at the Mavericks’ execs who signed off on the trade that took away one of the best players in the league. All of this is happening while Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” plays in the background.

Mavs fans aren’t the only people scratching their heads at the blockbuster trade. After Shams Charania announced that Doncic was going to the Lakers, both NBA players and celebrities wondered openly about why the trade happened.

“It’s crazy … I would have never thought Luka Doncic would get traded at this age, mid-season,” Kevin Durant told the press after his game on Saturday. “This gotta be the biggest trade I’ve seen since I’ve been in the league or since I’ve been watching the sport, this is insane.”

Devin Booker also voiced his opinion on the move, making it clear that he never feels too comfortable in this league. "It's a business," he said. "They're always having a conversation about you. Don't think that you're safe."

Lil Wayne also chimed in. "Lawwwwwwd have mercy!!!! Kuz my Lakers r obviously merciless!!!! This sh!t bout to be krazy slime!! Laker Luka?!?! Wow," the rapper tweeted.

While everyone else was reacting to the news though, Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison explained his motivation for the trade

“I believe that defense wins championships,” he told ESPN. “I believe that getting an all-defensive center and an all-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We’re built to win now and in the future.”
