In a new interview with Bobbi Althoff, Kevin Durant reflects on a period of depression he says was spurred by insecurities about his physical appearance.
Early into the NOT THIS AGAIN conversation, released in full on Halloween eve, the Houston Rockets player highlighted the amount of “miles” he’s put on his body as a professional athlete. This led to a quick back-and-forth between KD and Bobbi about what causes one’s body to shrink with age, with the Suns alum citing stress as a key factor.
“I’ve been depressed before, like once,” Durant, who attributed this moment in his life to feeling “insecure about how I looked,” told Althoff.
“It just hit me all at one time,” Durant added. “This was, like, six years ago.”
Asked what he did to get out of this difficult period, KD pointed to a realization he had about the recurring thoughts he was having at the time.
“I just snapped out of it because it was stupid to even care. … I just feel like I stood out for no reason sometimes,” he recalled. “But now, I’ve learned to accept it.”
Bobbi launched NOT THIS AGAIN in September, reuniting with Drake for the inaugural episode. The new series came after she announced her decision to bring The Really Good Podcast to a close, sending it off with “a little funeral” in the form of a final, self-reflective episode.
“It has been a dream, every second of it,” Bobbi told fans when saying goodbye to the Really Good era.
