Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua stepped into the ring in Miami for the latest much-hyped Netflix fight on Friday (Dec. 19), and Paul lost as expected, but lasted a longer-than-anticipated six rounds.

Most commentators had Joshua winning every round leading up to the sixth round knockout. Paul slipped multiple times throughout the fight, in what one writer suspected was a "tactic."

If it was, it was one that helped him survive for almost two-thirds of the bout, which was scheduled for eight rounds.

Before the fight, Paul walked to the ring in an outfit paying homage to late WWE star Hulk Hogan, with part of the wrestler's theme song playing on the PA. Then he was joined by none other than 6ix9ine, who rapped his hit "BILLY." The rapper is just weeks away from turning himself in to begin a 90-day jail sentence for violations of the terms of his supervised release. The jail term begins on Jan. 6, 2026.

Ahead of Friday night's showdown, featuring Kate Scott as the main desk host and Lennox Lewis among its roster of analysts, a size disparity of just under 27 pounds was determined at a livestreamed weigh-in event. While Jake came in at 216.6 pounds, Anthony bested that significantly, coming in at 243.4.

“You listen to me, brother!” Paul shouted after his weigh-in on Thursday. “When the ring bells I’m coming in there and I’m coming on his ass! You know who I are? I are him!”
