The E1 finals are hitting Miami this weekend. The world’s first all-electric raceboat series is making it's American debut with lots of star power in tow.

“I’m beyond excited to bring the E1 Championship to Miami,” Marc Anthony, one of several celebrity E1 team owners, previously said of this monumental moment for the Florida city. “This city has always had a special connection to the water, and with the E1 series, we’re taking that connection into the future, showcasing sustainable innovation and the electrification of marine racing.”

Ahead of the E1 Miami GP and related festivities, we’re breaking down everything you need to know. Keep reading for more.

What is the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF?

Billed as “the world’s first and only all-electric powerboat series,” the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) E1 World Championship Presented by PIF is part of a larger effort to focus on the future of electric mobility. In short, the aim is to promote a sustainable future for electric racing, while also empowering innovation in related tech.

E1 uses revolutionary electric RaceBird boats with zero direct emissions and the boats are purpose-built electric racing hydrofoil that literally flies above the water. The races are typically 10-15 minutes. The series features city-based racing in locations around the world, from Venice, Italy to Doha, Qatar and now, Miami, USA.

When and where is the E1 finale?

The 2025 season finale comes to Miami this weekend, Nov. 7 and 8. This will mark the first time the championship competition has taken place in the U.S., with attendees getting the unique opportunity to watch E1 RaceBird crafts zoom over Miami waters in pursuit of glory. Nine teams will be going head to head to see who comes out on top.

In addition to the main event, Cirque du Soleil is slated to bring an exclusive performance to the city.

LeBron James, Will Smith, and more among celebrity team owners

Celebrity-backed E1 teams include rosters falling under the respective umbrellas of familiar names like LeBron James, Will Smith, Tom Brady, Marc Anthony, Steve Aoki, and more.

The Teams Have Mixed Gender Pilots

The championship includes nine teams, each fielding one male and one female pilot who compete under identical conditions. This brings the total roster to 18 pilots, combining experienced professionals from motorsport backgrounds with emerging talent developed through the E1 Pilot Academy program. The idea behind the mixed gender pilots is to promote gender inclusivity.

Tom Brady's Team Won Last Year

The E1 Series electric powerboat racing series had it's first season in 2024. The very first race took place in January 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The season ended in September 2024 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. While the season did end early, Team Brady was announced as the champion.

Part of the reason why the seven-time NFL champion was able to secure the victory might have to do with how locked in he is with E1. In a recent episode of the ainslie + ainslie Performance People podcast, Team Brady’s Pilots, Sam Coleman and Emma Kimiläinen, talked about having Brady as an owner and revealed just how involved he is in the entire process.

"He lets us do what we are there to do, he trusts us 100%,” said Kimiläinen. “But he is very involved, so he is texting all the time asking things if he’s not there [in person]. He’s asking questions like ‘how many seconds do we lose per lap if we have that?’”
