Caption: Dynamics in numbers. The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse boasts a remarkable maximum torque of 1,500 Nm (at 3,000–5,000 rpm) from the 7.9-liter capacity of its W16 engine. The maximum output (1,200 hp) is reached at 6,400 rpm. These figures allow the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standing in unbelievable 2.6 seconds. The top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph) makes the four-wheel drive Vitesse the fastest production roadster ever. The maximum speed is reached on closed tracks with special safety precautions. In "normal" handling mode, the Vitesse is electronically limited to 375 km/h (233 mph).

Caption: The famous French artist Bernar Venet was invited by Bugatti to adorn the Grand Sport with his unique visual idiom. And so the new Bugatti Grand Sport Venet was born. His stunning declaration draws upon the engineering studies and equations that created Bugatti's mythical performance – the text seemingly being erased by speed of the wind over the car. A beautiful synthesis of Bugatti's sculptural beauty and Venet's passion for mathematics and scientific treatises. If you think you know every Bugatti, think again. This unique sculptural work will be on view at the Rubell Family Collection in Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach.

Caption: It's been eight months since the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse was first revealed to the public, and it has been turning heads ever since. However, back in February it raised eyebrows for a very different reason, as a few lucky individuals were given the opportunity to see the car in a very unique state – rusty, battered and filthy from top to bottom. The reason? The Vitesse had been airfreighted to South Africa where it endured a final testing to ensure it functioned as perfectly as a $2,000,000 car should. In the gruelling South African heat, every facet of the car was scrutinised using the latest cutting-edge technology. After all, even the fastest production roadster ever made needs to be put through its paces.

Caption: Galibier is a concept study which the company is considering for the future of the Bugatti marque. The Galibier's design masters the challenge of uniting sportiness with the comfort and elegance of a modern four-door saloon. The basic architecture picks up on the torpedo-like character of the Type 35, which was already revived in the Veyron, and reinterprets it.

Caption: 1939 - Le Mans Victory / Jean's death / World War II. Drivers Pierre Wimille and Pierre Veyron entered a team to race at Le Mans. They shared a single Bugatti with a 57 standard series chassis and su- percharger (and a very similar tank body to the 1937 winner), and once more took first place. The race marked Bugatti's last great victory. On 11 August, Jean's Bugatti death during testing of the exact car that had just won Le Mans meant the company was left without its founder's designated successor. Just a few days later, World War II broke out.

This coupé also features what is known as the 'Toit ouvant' – rolling roof in English – which can simply be slid backwards to open. Only 34 vehicles were given the Atalante body.
