The 25 Best BMX Riders Right Now (Video)

The talent pool in BMX has never been bigger than it is right now. There are so many astounding riders, and new ones pop up every week. Whittling them down to "The Top 25 Riders Right Now" was a difficult task. Every time we thought we had a list we could live with, we would remember new riders, or get a peak at some yet-to-be-released video footage. You may order this list differently. Let us know! Without a doubt, though, all of the riders on this list are incredible. It's a great time to be a BMX fan.

Complex Says: Geoff's been such a good rider for so long. When we saw his part in Anthem 2, he immediately jumped high up on our list of favorite riders. There's something amazing about a rider who can blend that genuine trails style seamlessly with street riding. Plenty of big and technical riding laid down in an original way earns Geoff a spot on the list.

Complex Says: Sean seems to make hard tricks look effortless. Not sure how he does it, but it looks like he just thinks what he wants to do and then somehow his bike just does it. It's an unnatural talent, and Sean uses it well. Tons of raw skill and good style to boot. Sean can make it all look good.

Complex Says: Bruno Hoffman and Dan Lacey have a bunch of edits together, and we were having a really hard time sorting out where to place these amazing riders. Instead, we're taking the easy way out and using one of their combined edits as their video. Both are completely unreal street riders with so much talent exploding out of them. They are both primed for amazing careers.

Complex Says: Alex has been good for a long time, but we weren't sure where to place him on this list. With an early preview of his "Owned" section, we give him a well-deserved spot on this list. The riding in his part is so creative and unique. He really steps up. Originality and fast pedaling means we have to include him on this list! Make sure you check out the "Owned" video when it comes out. Alex's part is a standout.

Complex Says: Ruben is a bonafide legend of BMX, and yet he stays on top of BMX even today. No rider in recent years has been as influential or created so many new ways to ride as Ruben. Always pushing himself in his own way, he routinely has something new that no one else can do. In the last few months, it seems like all the BMX press has been realizing and talking about what a major influence Ruben has been. He's for sure on our list as one of the all-time greats, and he also scores a spot among the top riders right now.

Complex Says: Dakota mixes burliness and new-school street riding skills together very well. His bike seems like an extension of him when he rides. His legendary pop doesn't look forced or jerky. For how strong of a rider he is, his style always looks fluid and natural. He does a great job of flowing through lines and keeping good momentum.

Complex Says: Nathan seems to have an impossible level of balance. Not long ago, he ice-picked a two stage rail in Austin that it took years years (back in the '90s) for anyone to even be able to double peg. He did it with skatestoppers on the rail too! Nathan has a slew of technical street tricks and lines that he seems to be able to unleash on anything in front of him.

Complex Says: Gary is as dialed as they come and can ride absolutely any terrain. For our money, Gary is one of the best riders around today. Consistent, original, fast, and completely picture-perfect style. He's the master of lines in skateparks. If you put Gary on a street course, you can guarantee he's the one who will find the best lines. He'll then destroy those lines with a great mix of tricks that all flow and fit together perfectly.

Complex Says: Moto has two consecutive Number One Rider Awards for flatland. His riding exudes creativity and style in a way that no one can match. Flatland on this incredibly high level seems to take on some sort of magic that we just can't put a finger on. All we can say is that even riders who have spent a lifetime on a BMX can't wrap their brains around what he does.

Complex Says: If there's a crazy trick you can imagine on a BMX bike, chances are Brett can do it. Always near the top at all the big contests, he has all of the biggest tricks dialed. It's hard to believe someone can be that consistent with such difficult and dangerous riding.

Complex Says: Daniel's consistency on the contest scene is amazing. He always seems to have a new, impossible jumping variation that has never been seen before. His reputation for precision means he's going to pull it off, too. Daniel can execute more difficult tricks in one run than most people can do in a lifetime.

Complex Says: Tom's outlandish personality makes every video clip of him that much better. Aside from being a unique and funny dude, he's also one hell of a rider. He has that magic boost on transition that seems to allow him to go higher than just about anyone. His style and flow make him a huge standout among the sea of great BMXers out there.

Complex Says: Corey Martinez has been revolutionizing BMX riding for a long time now. He's not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. His mind-blowing skill is mostly focused on street riding these days, but don't think for a second he can't ride everything. He pushes the boundaries of what's possible on a bike every time he rides.

Complex Says: Chad is young and new to the scene, but he's already landed a spot among the greats with a Nike sponsorship. He also just won The Hunt video contest. His riding is blowing minds, and it's scary to think how far he might be able to take things in another year or two. We expect plenty more good things from this kid.

Complex Says: We weren't really sure where to put Drew on this list. He's an amazing rider. But he's been out with an injury for much of this year, and we haven't heard much from him. When his Props "Owned" section drops in a couple weeks, you will see why he jumped so high on this list. Without a doubt, you'll agree that Drew deserves to be near the top of this list. One of the most amazing riders out right now.

Complex Says: Thanks to videos and magazines, we've had the pleasure of watching Chase grow up on a BMX. We don't know when it happened, but at some point he went from being really good to being on a level that no one else can match. With Chase, it's not about keeping up with the Jonses trick-wise, it's about his riding style. There's something so classic about his style, even though no one has ever ridden like him before. Take this video of Chase. All he's doing is a kickout, but somehow it's better than any spinning, flipping, legs flailing, impossibly difficult foam pit trick out there. People often say you have to see Chase ride in person to really understand what's so special about him. When he shows up to your skatepark, don't miss the chance and don't be surprised if he does lines no one's ever seen in his first run. He really is that good.

Complex Says: With a nod to the anticipation we feel for Aaron's Empire BMX "Bad Idea" video section, Aaron scores high on this list. By far one of the most popular riders around, he backs it up with original and impossibly hard street riding. Aaron's riding has helped change the direction of street riding. His determined level of progression keeps his riding growing and makes him one of the top riders around.

Complex Says: With two consecutive NORA cups for dirt jumper of the year, it's safe to say that Chris is one of the best dirt jumpers ever. He can apply that dirt skill to ramps and street better than probably any other dirt rider out there. Chris is not only one of the all-time greats in BMX, but he's also completely on top of the game right now.

Complex Says: Scotty has consistently been one of the best riders in BMX. He's not a one-dimensional contest rider with nothing but a quiver of foam pit tricks. He has more skill than just about anyone on a bike, and he can apply it to any type of riding. It's just assumed that Scotty can do anything he wants to do on a BMX.

Complex Says: Sean Burns has his own direction in BMX riding. He's not worried about whatever the newest tech nibble trick is. Instead, he's pushing the boundaries of faster, higher, and scarier. His video part in Anthem 2 was nominated for video part of the year, and for good reason. His unique approach to BMX riding really makes him stand out. The gnarl level of his riding puts him high on the list of the best out there today.

Complex Says: Kyle has exploded onto this year's dirt jumping scene, winning some of the biggest comps and throwing out some of the hardest tricks. Although he's new to the contest scene, he's already outgunning the best riders around. If he can maintain this amazing level, who knows how far he will take dirt jumping during next season.

Complex Says: The skill level required for flatland riding is mind boggling. It is so f-in hard to do! Matthias has re-ignited flatland for a lot of people. He has a perfect mix of the insane ability needed to ride modern flatland and a style that makes even the most tech tricks fun to watch. He looks like he's just flowing and doing what comes naturally, but he's also doing some of the most difficult riding anyone has ever done.

Complex Says: Dennis could easily be number one on this list, and we'd be completely cool with that. He can ride everything. He's arguably the gnarliest rider out there right now. The level he's taken bike riding to is at times completely death-defying. He can hang at any dirt jumping comp. He won best video part this year for the Last Chance video. And he won ramp rider of the year.

Complex Says: Jamie's domination of the vert world is pretty monumental. He's been winning everything he touches for years now, and he's way ahead of any other rider in vert. When you watch him ride, his mastery stands out head and shoulders above every other rider. He goes higher and is smoother than anyone. He links together tricks no one else can do, and his style and flow are better than anyone else on today's vert ramp.

Complex Says: The presenter of this year's Number One Street Rider award said that whoever won was "basically the most badass rider in the world." We'll agree to that and give Garrett number one. We're sure he'd be top 10 on anyone's list. This video is the promo for his new bike company, Fiend, so it has some clips of other riders on the team (who are all amazing). Every clip of Garrett is something new, creative, and impossibly hard.
