1 Child Dead, Dozens Injured in Youth Football Team Bus Crash

One child is dead after a Memphis youth football team's bus crashed in Arkansas early Monday morning.

A bus carrying a Memphis youth football team crashed in Arkansas, killing one child and injuring 45 more, Arkansas state police report. The crash occurred at 2 a.m. Monday morning, in Saline County, southwest of Little Rock. The team was returning from a championship game in Dallas over the weekend. Those injured, most whom are children, have been transported to area hospitals in Little Rock and Benton.

The bus flipped over after leaving Interstate 30 and the driver is being questioned by police.

Local NBC affiliate WMC 5 reports the children ranged in age from 7-12, and there were four adult coaches also on the bus. A coach told the outlet the bus rolled over four times after leaving the road.

According to state police spokesman Bill Sadler, weather does not appear have played a role in the accident.
