Chargers defensive tackle Corey Liuget tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in March of this year, the first positive test in his seven-year career. But a lawsuit Liuget filed in California U.S. Circuit court on Tuesday says his trainer is to blame, reports ESPN. After his positive test, the 28-year-old was suspended for the first four games of the 2018-19 season and will return in Week 5 against the Raiders.

Liuget, who was drafted in 2011, is asking for $15 million in lost wages, damages, and pain caused by the positive test. The trainer in question is former Canadian Olympic Bobsledding team member Ian Danney.

Liuget details in the suit how Danney claimed to be injecting him with an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory after a game last season when he was experiencing pain in his feet (where he's previously broken bones), but Danney was supposedly injecting him with a banned substance. To further discredit his former trainer, the suit also maintains that Danney injected him with a drug that required a prescription, which Liuget didn't have.

Compounding Danney's problems is how the lawsuit reports that both injections occurred in California, where the trainer doesn't have a license to administer said injections. Regardless of how the court rules, the veracity of Liuget's claims are certainly more realistic than the spectral defense offered up by wide receiver Jeremy Kerley
