Earlier this week, Giants owner John Mara spoke out about New York's outspoken wideout, Odell Beckham Jr. "I wish [Beckham] would create the headlines by his play on the field as opposed to what he says and what he does off the field," he told reporters at the owners' meetings. "I think he needs to do a little more playing and a little less talking." On Friday, before their Monday night game against the Atlanta Falcons, Beckham responded to the less wish.
"I respect and value his opinion, obviously," Beckham said. "So that's what we're going to do, like I said, focus on Atlanta right now. That's really it."
Odell controversially critiqued the Giants offense and quarterback Eli Manning in multipleinterviews this month. His comments aren't without merit, since Eli has one of the league's worst QBR rankings.
Despite not directly challenging the 63-year-old owner, ODB continues to be unapologetic about his previous comments, for which he's already been fined.
"I've said this all the time: Never have any regrets," Beckham said. "At one point in time, it was exactly what you wanted to say. It is what it is. I don't believe in everything is a test or anything like that. Everything is an opportunity to learn and grow. That's really it."
Though they're 1-5, Giants can at least look forward to facing one of the NFL's weakest defenses in Atlanta.
