It?s Tex Winter?s 93rd birthday, and in recognition of the triangle (triple-post) offense?s creator?and this site?s patron saint?we figured we?d do something a little different. Namely, what would the ultimate Tex Winter NBA lineup look like? Tex did get his shot as a head coach in the NBA, going 51-78 with the Houston Rockets in the early ?70s, but the teams he?s best remembered for were Phil Jackson?s Bulls and Lakers. Maybe the man who literally wrote the book on the triangle (?The Triple-Post Offense (Sideline Triangle),? 1962) would do things a little differently. Here?s who we think he?d pick.
