We're fresh off a list of big ol' V8 engines. We'll always have a special place for them in our heart, no matter what. There's a tone and a feel that you just can't get from anything else. Some of them were naturally aspirated, but some of them also had some help from air being forced into them via one (or two) turbochargers. Almost all of them, however were in price ranges of "yeesh, that's kind of expensive" to "holy hell, I could buy a friggin' house for that much!" We'd like to offer a solution. You won't find any cheap turbocharged V8s, but we have a set of vehicles that are all under $35,000 and have that little turbo whine. Check 'em out.

Nissan Juke

Engine: 2.6L Direct-Injection 4-Cylinder
Fuel Economy: 25 / 31 mpg
Horsepower: 188 hp
Torque: 177 lb-ft
Msrp: $18,990

Straight up, we love the Juke. The styling is fantastically funky, the six-speed transmission is spunky, and the standard turbo makes it a quick little crossover. This is one of the cheapest cars on the list, and we'd be thrilled to have it. You can keep your $600,000, though.

MazdaSpeed3

Engine: 2.3L DISI DOHC
Fuel Economy: 26 / 35 mpg
Horsepower: 263 hp
Torque: 280 lb-ft
Msrp: $24,200

Mazda's "Speed" division never disappoints. The new Mazda Speed 3 can turn that frown upside down anytime you "Zoom-Zoom".

Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Engine: 2.0L I4
Fuel Economy: 17 / 27 mpg
Horsepower: 274 hp
Torque: 275 lb-ft
Msrp: $24,250

The last generation Genesis Coupe turned the auto world on its ear. It had looks, power, and it was a Hyundai so it was affordable. If you thought they were going to stop there you would be sooooooo wrong. The current model has even more power and still kept its great looks! Turn Up!

Ford Fiesta ST

Engine: 2.0L Direct-Injection EcoBoost
Fuel Economy: 23 / 32 mpg
Horsepower: 197 hp
Torque: 202 lb-ft
Msrp: $24,115

If you like tiny, subcompact speedsters the Ford Fiesta ST is perfect. It combines great style with the power of a super car, making its power to weight ratio- smile inducingly fun.

Hyundai Veloster Turbo

Engine: 1.6L 4-Cylinder GDI DOHC 4-cylinder engine
Fuel Economy: 24 / 31 mpg
Horsepower: 201 hp
Torque: 195 lb-ft
Msrp: $22,100

Although its new to the scene of hot hatches altogether, the Hyundai Veloster holds its own. It is quirkly styled and is actually a 3-door (not including the back hatch), not to mention it has a super powerplant under the hood. Not only is the engine powerful and fun to drive but its also fuel efficient.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Engine: 2.0L I4 MIVEC DOHC
Fuel Economy: 17 / 23 mpg
Horsepower: 291 hp
Torque: 300 lb-ft
Msrp: $34,995

Like the WRX STI the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo also has a long history of rallying. It may have a little less horsepower than the WRX but it also has a little more torque, so dont sleep on it. This one should be handled with care as well.

Fiat 500 Abarth

Engine: 1.4L I4
Fuel Economy: 28 / 34 mpg
Horsepower: 160 hp
Torque: 170 lb-ft
Msrp: $22,000

This fiery little Abarth is really only similar to the 500 in looks and name. Other than that, the engine, suspension, transmission, steering, brakes, exhaust, chassis, and traction control are completely different. And damn we're happy that Abarth did everything its own way. The small hatch is a fantastic car to whip around on the streets or on a closed track.

Ford Focus ST

Engine: 1.6L I4 EcoBoost
Fuel Economy: 26 / 35 mpg
Horsepower
Torque
Msrp: $21,400

Ford used the same formula for the Fiesta ST on the Focus ST and it works perfectly. The Focus more looks more agressive than ever before and the performance is insane.

VW Golf R

Engine: 2.0L TSI engine
Fuel Economy: 19 / 27 mpg
Horsepower: 256 hp
Torque: 243 lb-ft
Msrp: $34,195

"For serious drivers only" is what VW should say. The often admired German engineering and racing tech all come wrapped up in a package VW calls the Golf R. The Golf R is made to eat curves, drag strips and haters, so watch out

Subaru Impreza WRX

Engine: 2.5-liter 4-Cylinder Boxer
Fuel Economy: 25 / 19 mpg
Horsepower: 265 hp
Torque: 244 lb-ft
Msrp: $25,995

The WRX's wild high-performance brother, the STi, has a long history in rally racing, and its derived from this model. Yes, a lot of it is tuned an tweaked, but starting at $26K, this car has a sport-tuned independent suspension and four-wheel drive.
