How ‘The Last Dance’ Director Jason Hehir Earned Michael Jordan’s Trust

Does Michael Jordan still hate the Pistons? How does he feel about the GOAT debate? 'The Last Dance' tries to answer those questions.

After weeks of anticipation and public pressure to get an early release, ESPN's long-awaited The Last Dance documentary premiered last Sunday to stellar reviews and roughly 6.1 million viewers, the largest viewership for an ESPN-produced documentary. The Last Dancecaptures the final season of Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Chicago Bulls during the ’97-’98 season while also flashing back to take a look at Jordan's first seven years with the Bulls before they became a dynasty.

This week, Complex News’ Pierce Simpson sat down with Last Dance director Jason Hehir, who gave us a glimpse into the process of interviewing Micheal Jordan along with detailing their first encounter. In addition, Hehir provides context to Jordan’s willingness to partake in the doc and why his hatred for the Detriot Pistons still festers.
