Lil’ Kim Escorted Deontay Wilder to the Ring With Her New Single

The "Queen Bee" provided a pre-fight assist as Deontay Wilder took home win number 40 Saturday night.

Heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder defended his title with a tenth-round TKO of Luis Ortiz Saturday night. Before the match began, the estimated 14,069 in attendance at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York got a taste of the borough’s pre-gentrification days, courtesy of Lil’ Kim.

The “Queen Bee” escorted Wilder to the ring while performing a medley that included “Queen Bitch” and “Spicy.” While the former track was released from an album that dropped nearly 22 years ago, escorting Wilder to the ring gave Kim the opportunity to market the latter single.

“Just walked out my boy, boxer and heavy weight champion of the world @bronzebomber while I introduced my new track SPICY ft @myfabolouslife!!!, Available everywhere go cop that‼ Link in bio,” Kim wrote in an Instagram post commemorating the event.

While Kim was promoting a hopeful hit, the tenth round saw Wilder dish out several hits that ultimately caused Ortiz to drop to his knees on the canvas. You can see the flurry of Wilder’s blows that ultimately subdued Ortiz in the video below at the 18-second mark.

“He was hitting me with those furious punches, but they didn't have sting on them,” Wilder said during post-fight comments obtained by ESPN. “He was throwing combos that knocked me off balance. I just had to get my range back and my fundamentals back. And I was able to do that. I showed I was a true champion tonight.”

Per ESPN, Wilder’s record improved to 40-0 with 39 knockouts after he defeated Ortiz Saturday.
