Dallas Mavericks forward PJ Washington is securing his future on and off the court.
On Wednesday (Aug. 3), Washington's agent, Kevin Bradbury, told ESPN's Shams Charania that his client has agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension with the Mavericks. The deal, which locks the 27-year-old in through the 2029-30 season, comes just over a year after Dallas traded for him during the 2023-24 campaign.
The lucrative contract signals the Mavericks' commitment to Washington, who played a key role in their playoff run last season. The Dallas Morning News previously reported in August that an extension was "likely," though specifics had remained unclear. The career milestone arrives just days after Washington found himself at the center of viral headlines involving his ex, Brittany Renner, and her mother.
In a video circulating online, Washington is seen arriving for a custody exchange of his son, PJ Jr., whom he shares with Renner. As Renner handed the crying child over, she accused Washington of failing to comfort their son during visits.
Washington responded by accusing Renner and her mother of "babying" PJ Jr., which sparked a heated back-and-forth. The exchange escalated when Washington told Renner and her mother to "suck dick." After Renner's mom pressed him to repeat himself, Washington doubled down: "I didn't stutter."
"If you had one, maybe I would. Pussy-ass bitch," she retorted, before accusing him of giving his wife, Alisah Chanel Washington, $170,000 while only putting $11,000 in their son's bank account.
"Shut the fuck up!" Alisah shot back, lunging toward the camera as the video abruptly cut off.
Washington and Renner welcomed PJ Jr. in 2021 before ending their relationship. He married Alisah in 2023, and the couple has since welcomed two more children. Despite the off-court turbulence, Washington's wife surprised him on Monday with a new grey 2025 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which is retailing for around $400,000, just days after his birthday and the viral confrontation with Renner.
