Former NBA star Paul Pierce recently sparked conversation with a bold claim about LeBron James' time with the Miami Heat, saying the outcome of LeBron's championships might have been different if they had been the same age.
Pierce made the remarks on the latest episode of Club Shay Shay, reflecting on the challenges of facing LeBron during his prime. According to Pierce, if he were a bit younger, he would've had enough in the tank to stop the King from winning two championships during his stint in Miami.
"If we were the same age, I don't believe he would have had four championships," Pierce said. "He wouldn't have got those two in Miami 'cause I got to believe if we're the same age, and I could offset him, that would have been good enough, right? You know, like if he hadn't got 40 in Game 6 and we the same age, I would probably woulda got 40 and offset him."
He continued, "I was at an older age then, a lot of miles and stuff, and it was hard for me to keep up with him. I'm not gonna lie, I'll be watching those tapes sometimes, and I'm like, damn, I couldn't even move. I look stiff. But if I was younger, I could've moved with him."
The two-time NBA champion with the Boston Celtics frequently faced LeBron in the playoffs in the late 2000s and early 2010s, building one of the most memorable rivalries of his generation.
