Mick Foley has announced that he is cutting ties with WWE, citing the company’s continued association with former President Donald Trump as the reason for his decision.

The WWE Hall of Famer shared his stance in a lengthy Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec. 15), explaining that his concerns had been building for months but ultimately reached a breaking point this week. Foley said WWE’s relationship with Trump, combined with what he described as the president’s repeated displays of cruelty, made it impossible for him to continue representing the company.

Foley pointed specifically to Trump’s record on immigration and his rhetoric toward marginalized communities, saying those issues had already weighed heavily on him. He added that reading what he called Trump’s “incredibly cruel” public comments following the death of filmmaker Rob Reiner was the final factor that pushed him to act.

In his statement, Foley said he has informed WWE’s talent relations department that he will not make any future appearances for the company as long as Trump remains in office. He also revealed that he will not renew his Legends contract when it expires in June, effectively ending his formal relationship with WWE.

Despite the decision, Foley emphasized that the move was not made lightly. He expressed gratitude for his decades-long career with the company and said he will always cherish his time there. Still, he made it clear that continuing under the current circumstances conflicted with his personal values, saying he could no longer align himself with an organization he believes is accommodating someone he views as lacking compassion.

Fans quickly responded to Foley’s announcement with messages of support, praising him for taking a principled stand. Many commenters highlighted Foley’s long-standing reputation as one of wrestling’s most genuine and kind-hearted figures, applauding him for prioritizing his beliefs over business ties.

Foley’s decision comes shortly after WWE’s recent premium live event, Saturday Night’s Main Event, which featured John Cena’s retirement match. Reports surrounding the event noted that Trump had been invited to attend, further fueling discussion about the company’s political connections.

Widely regarded as one of the most beloved performers of the Attitude Era, Foley competed under multiple personas, including Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love. Over the course of his career, he captured three WWE Championships and three Tag Team Championships, earning acclaim for his physically demanding and unforgettable hardcore matches.
