Lebron James Responds After Celtics Announcer Calls Him Out for Russell Westbrook 'Scapegoat' Treatment

LeBron James had some words for a Boston Celtics announcer who called Russell Westbrook his "scapegoat" while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

In the middle of Boston's preseason opener against the Denver Nuggets, the Celtics announcer team spoke on Westbrook's mediocre tenure with the Lakers and hoped to see him show out against his former team this coming season by hitting nine three-pointers. The announcer claimed Westbrook got "a lot of heat" for that "disaster team," while his partner suggested that LeBron uses his teammates as "scapegoats."

It didn't take long for King James to hear the comments aimed at him as he went right to his X page and criticized the Celtics' announcer team while also praising Westbrook as a "legend."

"Took a trip all the way to Abu Dhabi to be on my.....Eat some breakfast first! Anyways Brodie a LEGEND," tweeted LeBron.

Westbrook's time with the Lakers was rough, as the superteam of him, LeBron, and Anthony Davis needed more help to get the job done and win an NBA title. They missed the playoffs in the 2021-22 season after being touted as the favorites to make it out of the West that year, and Westbrook was traded to the Utah Jazz in the middle of the 2022-23 season.

After being traded to Utah, Westbrook's contract was bought out, and he joined the Los Angeles Clippers. Following the 2023-24 season, Westbrook signed with the Nuggets on a two-year $6.8 million contract, with a player option for the 2025-26 season.
