WWE superstar Kit Wilson isn't holding anything back ahead of his matchup with Jelly Roll.
On Friday, Jelly Roll will take on Wilson in his very first singles match on SmackDown, and what began as a war of words over the last few weeks, including a viral "slam poetry" freestyle last week, has quickly evolved into a heated rivalry. Wilson made it clear in his interview with Complex that once the bell rings, the tone will shift completely.
"Tonight is Friday night," said Wilson. "This is Jelly Roll coming into my ring, in a match. That's my domain. Last week was his game… tonight is different."
According to Wilson, the beef he has with Roll is something much deeper than friendly competition. It's a moment for Wilson to establish himself as the main event, and Jelly Roll happens to be in the way.
"I think that the common theme with this whole feud, he does a lot right. This man cares. He's a WWE fan, and he wants to be a part of this business in the right way," Wilson said. "What he did wrong last week, and in general, is getting in my way. I'm the up-and-coming superstar here. I'm on my way to the top. It didn't matter if it was Jelly Roll in front of me or another WWE superstar, I was coming for them."
Despite acknowledging Jelly Roll's love and passion for WWE, Wilson also explained that there's no love lost between them.
"Jelly, you are ugly, you are ugly, you are ugly… and I'm not talking physical appearance. I'm proud of you for losing all that weight, but you are ugly because you have an ego. You have an ego and a bravado that thinks you can come into my sport and win a match against me, that's stupidity."
He continued, doubling down on his warning ahead of the match: "You're out of your depth. These are shark-infested waters, and I'm a good-looking shark. It's the stupidity that's gonna make you end up on the receiving end of an elbow, of a fist, of a kick, of a headbutt [...] I'm gonna drag that man around the mat, I'm gonna throw him around the ring, and I'm gonna make it entertaining."
Even amid the sharp trash talk, Wilson sees something in Jelly Roll that sets him apart from most celebrity crossovers in WWE.
"For me, it's night and day. You can tell when celebrities come in and they don't care… but Jelly Roll shows real heart and real passion. That's what makes a difference."
