John Cena’s Heel Turn at Elimination Chamber Has Everyone Shocked

Cena won the men's Elimination Chamber match to secure his spot against Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania 41.

After 22 years, the unthinkable has happened. John Cena has finally turned into a heel character.

The moment happened after the 16-time world champion defeated five other superstars in the men's Elimination Chamber match on Saturday night to secure his spot at Wrestlemania 41 to take on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title match.

Cena had kicked Rhodes in the groin after embracing him for telling Dwayne
"The Rock" Johnson
off and proceeded to beat him into a bloody pulp. Travis Scott, who walked The Rock down to the ring, even got in on the action by holding Rhodes down and also striking him right across the face.

WWE fans were shocked at the turn of events and couldn't believe Cena, who's been a face character for most of his career, would sell his soul to The Rock to set himself up for a potential record-breaking 17th world championship reign.

It didn't take long for social media to be lit on fire by people who witnessed one of the greatest moments in professional wrestling history. Fans compared to the moment Hulk Hogan's epic heel turn in 1996 when he joined the nWo, and others made jokes about Scott making the best of his time in the ring on Saturday night.

"John Cena turning heel in 2025 was considered a sin in wrestling. I cannot believe this. I am at a loss of words," wrote one person. Another said, "I'm not joking there are gonna be documentaries made about this moment I YELLED OUT THE LOUDEST SCREAM AS MANY OF US DID ONE OF THE GREATEST ANGLES IN HISTORY DAWG  #WWEChamber."

The events following the Elimination Chamber on Saturday have set things in motion for the Road to Wrestlemania. Rhodes will be taking on Cena, who has sold his soul in his quest for a 17th world championship, and the American Nightmare is looking to rise against the odds once again as the top baby face in the company.

Cena refused to address his attack on Rhodes in a post-show press conference. You can watch that below.
