Dave Portnoy has revealed he has so much trust in his ex-wife, Renee, that she has full access to his bank account.
In his conversation with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Portnoy opened up about marriage and explained how he still trusts his ex-wife even though their union didn't work. According to Portnoy, if his ex were to call him for a favor, he'd be on his way, no questions asked.
"She's still my best friend, like we get along," said Portnoy. "But she was with me at the beginning of this company, and if she called me right now and is like, 'I need you,' I'd be there. It just didn't work as a marriage."
Portnoy then explained how his ex has access to his bank account, and he has no problem with taking any money out if she needed it. According to Portnoy, his ex was with him before his fame, and it's hard to find people whom someone can trust after becoming famous.
"I trust her implicitly. If she wanted to take it, she could," said Portnoy. "There's very few people that you meet where you can trust implicitly and, to be honest, she was there when we were living at the in-laws house, she was there when we couldn't afford a hamburger. She was there through the grind."
He continued, "We kind of separated when we started making it so she doesn't get to enjoy any of that, and to me that's not right. I'm a loyalty guy [...] If she wanted to do something with it, she would've done it a long time ago."
Portnoy revealed his ex is in a relationship and he's cool with it, saying he wanted her to be happy. Sharpe told Portnoy he needed to cut her off from his bank account, and he responded by saying he wouldn't even notice if anything was gone, adding he had no issue with her potentially using his money to pay for an extravagant wedding. The former couple got married in 2009, but they separated in 2017. Portnoy announced the separation with an article on Barstool Sports.
"Yes I'm separated right now from the First Lady. I have been for a little while now," Portnoy wrote. "I didn't mention it out of respect to everybody involved, but it was mutual. No shady shit on either side. I love her. I will always love her. We both needed a break to figure our shit out. Nothing that is happening is behind the other person's back."
He added, "She's fucking awesome and we both love each other. I'd legit take a bullet for her, and that hasn't changed, and frankly, who knows what the future will bring for the two of us."
