Cody Rhodes has reflected on following in his father Dusty Rhodes' footsteps and has no problem chasing after what he describes as "the Ghost."

In an interview with Complex, the current undisputed WWE Champion spoke on Dusty being his most significant influence in pursuing greatness. According to Cody, following in his father's footsteps is something he takes pride in, and he actually wants to chase after "the Ghost," or in other words, go after his father's accomplishments.

"For me, I have woke up every day chasing the Ghost. Chasing the Ghost as a performer and a competitor. I have never had a problem internally saying, I want to be better," said Cody. "The most important thing, though, that he did in terms of me trying to be better, and it is the most uphill battle for me, is he was a superb father."

He added, "He basically didn't work so that he could watch me amateur wrestle. I get up every morning—when I say chasing the Ghost, it's not negative, it's a positive. I know how far ahead he is, and I know there's still things that I could do to say, 'I got you.'"

When it comes to accolades, Cody has achieved something his father never did when he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL last April, an accomplishment that eluded Dusty his entire career. Cody is set to team up with his rival Roman Reigns to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at WWE's next premium live event, Bad Blood, on October 5 in Atlanta, Georgia.
