CM Punk is grieving a devastating loss.
The WWE star revealed in an emotional Instagram post that his beloved dog, Larry, a rescue he and his wife, AJ Lee, adopted nearly a decade ago, has passed away. Punk described Larry’s final moments, sharing that he “crossed the rainbow bridge, wrapped tightly in our arms,” adding that the pup was “safe and happy, surrounded by love.”
Punk and AJ adopted Larry from PAWS Chicago in February 2015, and the wrestler said the dog immediately transformed their lives. “He changed our lives,” Punk wrote, explaining that Larry made every place they traveled feel like home. The post included touching photos and videos of Larry throughout the years, napping in bed, riding in airplane cockpits, running around the house, and wearing adorable outfits that fans had grown fond of.
In his message, Punk reflected on the depth of love and loss that comes with losing a pet. “The grief we carry is the price we pay for unconditional love,” he wrote. “I could never in one million years find the words to properly express how much we loved him nor how much joy he brought us… What a privilege to be so heartbroken and devastated for having experienced such a bond. I wouldn’t change anything.”
Punk shared that Larry lived a “long, amazing life,” one filled with sunsets, skateboard chases, and the comfort of being part of a deeply loved family. He said the house now feels painfully quiet, though they still imagine “the jingle of his necklace and the tip-taps of his little feet on the hardwood floors.”
Larry even became part of CM Punk’s on-screen storyline last year, when WWE superstar Drew McIntyre used a bracelet bearing AJ’s and Larry’s names to antagonize Punk during their 2024 Feud of the Year rivalry.
The post ended with a tribute that left fans and fellow wrestlers mourning alongside him: “Until we see you again, sweetest Bobo. We love you. Forever.”
