Cavs' Max Strus Said 'Believe or Don’t Show Up'—Then Missed Every Shot in Elimination Game

Max Strus told his team to "believe" in themselves or stay home, then missed every shot in a crucial elimination game.

Max Strus went viral for a hilarious reason following the Cleveland Cavaliers getting eliminated from the NBA postseason.

During a pregame show on Tuesday night ahead of the Cavs' Game 5 showdown against the Indiana Pacers, TNT's Jared Greenberg reported that Strus texted his teammates as motivation. The text read, "If you don't believe, then don't show up for work."

A message like that could inspire a whole team; the only problem is that the person giving it should be doing the same and showing up to "work." That wasn't the case for Strus.

The 6-foot-5-inch forward guard had a solid series against the Pacers as he averaged 12.2 points and shot 40 percent from the perimeter. But he could've stayed on the bench in the final game, as he shot an abysmal 0 for 9 from the field and scored 0 points Tuesday night.

He did have seven rebounds and two assists, but that wasn't enough to keep the Cavs from getting eliminated in five games.

It didn't take long for Strus' text to go viral on social media and stamp another meme-worthy moment. Unfortunately for the Cavs, they have once again come up short in the playoffs for the third straight year after having a successful regular season.

They were the No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs, but now they're in the offseason and surely wondering what went wrong.
