Bow Wow is reminding everyone that even NBA royalty isn’t above some lighthearted trolling.

The rapper sparked laughs online after posting a playful message aimed at Marcus Jordan, and revealing the long-running “beef” he’s had with Marcus’ father, basketball legend Michael Jordan. On X, Bow Wow shared a clip from a May 2023 event celebrating the sixth anniversary of Marcus’ Trophy Room store in Miami.

The throwback video shows Bow Wow and Marcus hanging out before the camera catches MJ walking over to greet them, and according to Bow Wow, that’s when the trash talk started.

“Yo Marcus you my bro, and I know OG is the GOAT but your pops been trash talking me and punching me for years 🤣 he don’t even call me by my name. Just ‘short shit,’” Bow Wow joked on Twitter.

The rapper also posted the clip on his Instagram Stories and tagged Marcus. Marcus responded by sharing it to his own Stories with a pair of laughing emojis, confirming the moment is all in good fun.

Bow Wow’s connection to the Jordan family goes way back, as he grew up spending time with Marcus, even having sleepovers at the Jordans’ home. But being close to MJ came with some rules. During an appearance on Club Shay Shay earlier this year, Bow Wow recalled how Jordan once threw away his Allen Iverson jersey, Duke shorts, and Reebok sneakers because he didn’t want non-Jordan-brand gear in his house. To soften the blow, MJ replaced the items with Jumpman apparel.

Bow Wow has his own spot in basketball history — sort of — thanks to his starring role as Calvin Cambridge in the 2002 film Like Mike, where his character discovers a pair of magical sneakers supposedly worn by Michael Jordan. He memorably covered (and updated) Kurtis Blow's 1984 hit "Basketball" for the film's soundtrack.
