Alijah Arenas has been released from the hospital days after he crashed his Tesla Cybertruck.
According to TMZ Sports, Alijah's family released a statement revealing that the high school basketball star was "now resting comfortably under close watch." The family added that Alijah's journey to full recovery is "just beginning" but reiterated his spirit is "strong" and "surrounded by love and support."
"The Govan and Arenas family are preparing for the road ahead with faith and determination, committed to nurturing Alijah back to 100%. He remains blessed, resilient, and in high spirits," the family said in their statement on Wednesday.
Alijah's future in basketball wasn't discussed, but the family did say their focus is on his health and well-being. Following the fiery crash last week, medical authorities intubated Alijah and placed him in an induced coma to treat him for ingesting high levels of carbon dioxide.
Video footage from the crash showed the Cybertruck in flames with a busted fire hydrant spewing out water, and Arenas, in boxers and socks, rolling around in pain on the ground nearby. Earlier this week, Alijah's family revealed he was walking and talking prior to being released from the hospital.
Alijah is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas and a five-star recruit who committed to USC this year. He averaged 31 points and 7.8 rebounds last season and reportedly locked in a sponsorship deal with adidas.
