Just over a month after winning the WBC welterweight title, Ryan Garcia sat down with Creators Think host Andy Bachman and made it clear that he has no plans to slow down.
"I'm out here fighting Devin Haney. I'm out here fighting f*cking Tank Davis. Now I'm about to fight Teofimo [Lopez]," Garcia said on Friday, March 27. "I'm fighting everybody that's in front of me.”
The 27-year-old captured the WBC welterweight title on February 21 with a dominant unanimous decision over Mario Barrios at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He dropped Barrios in the opening seconds and never looked back, cruising to scores of 119-108, 120-107, and 118-109.
"It feels good to finally be a world champion," Garcia said after the fight. "It's something I've been dreaming of since I was 7 years old."
But Garcia isn't looking backward. When Bachman asked whether WBO super lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson is scared to fight him at 147, Garcia was direct. "Oh, for sure. 100%," he said, explaining that Stevenson has been pushing for a rehydration clause that would limit how much weight Garcia can put back on after the weigh-in. Garcia said he's already beaten "a longer, stronger, and faster" fighter in Haney, who he claims "has a deep fear of me."
He had similar energy for Gervonta "Tank" Davis. "A lot of these guys want me to take the risk and go lower all the time, but they won't do it," Garcia said of fighters who want him to drop weight instead of meeting him at welterweight. "Now that I'm world champion, you're going to have to come to me. And if you don't want to, I don't really need you anyway."
Garcia also questioned Terence Crawford's resume, saying he's never fought “a young lion,” and named Jaron “Boots” Ennis as the most “overrated” fighter in the sport right now.
The boxing pro isn't the first big name to swing by Creators Think. Bachman, the Creators Inc. founder whose company has done over a billion dollars in sales, has hosted UFC legend Chael Sonnen, Blueface, Coco Bliss, and L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt. He also recently brokered "the largest purse ever for a competitive wrestling match" on behalf of RAF wrestler Georgio Poullas, a deal he brought up during the episode. "That's amazing," Garcia said. "I'm happy for the wrestlers, man."
