Wednesday's ACC showdown between Duke and North Carolina was fetching nearly $3,000 for the cheapest ticket in Cameron Indoor Stadium just to see Blue Devils forward Zion Williamson compete against his school's biggest rival.

Less than a minute into the game, Williamson left with a knee injury when he planted his foot awkwardly, causing his Nike PG 2.5 PEs to literally split in half.

After facing a wave of criticism, Nike released a statement on the incident.

One of the many famous celebrities in attendance, President Barack Obama, made the astute observation, pointing at the aftermath, and declaring, "His shoe broke!"

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James hoped for the best for Zion.

Obama later took to Twitter to also wish Zion a "speedy recovery."

Others wanted to use Williamson's injury to point out the unfortunate circumstances that NCAA athletes are forced to deal with.
