Tom Brady's Father Says Roger Goodell Doesn't Belong on the Same Stage as His Son

Tom Brady Sr. doesn't subscribe to the belief that time heals all wounds when it comes to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. In an interview with Bay Area news station KRON 4, Brady's father ripped Goodell over his role in the Deflategate scandal that led to New England Patriots quarterback's four-game suspension at the start of the 2016 season.

For what the league did to him (Tom Brady) and what Roger Goodell constantly lied about is beyond reprehensible as far as I’m concerned,” Brady Sr. said. “He went on a witch hunt and went in way over his head and had to lie his way out in numerous ways and the reality is that Tommy never got suspended for deflating footballs. He got suspended because the court said that he could, Roger Goodell could do anything he wanted to do to any player for any reason whatsoever. That’s what happened. The NFL admitted they had no evidence on him."

When asked about Goodell's recent comments in which he said it would be an "honor" to hand the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the four-time Super Bowl champion on Feb. 5, Brady Sr. said, "It should be an honor because somebody that has Roger Goodell’s ethics doesn’t belong on any stage that Tom Brady is on."

Many people will probably say that Brady's father is only being critical of Goodell because his son was the person in the middle of this controversy. And you know what, you're not only right, Brady Sr. isn't ashamed of admitting that he's going to bat for his child. “When it happens to your son, it’s a whole different context,” he said. “Or your daughter or any one of your kids and I think any parent kind of understands that. They’d rather take the slings and arrows in the heart than have their kids take it."
