Back in July, Ricky Rubio made it clear through his agent Dan Fegan that he is seeking a max contract extension from the Minnesota Timberwolves. If you're a fan of the NBA, you can probably assume that Rubio won't be receiving a payout in the range of $85 million over five years. Because, even though the 23-year-old is an undeniably talented player, there are a select few who deserve a max deal and Ricky isn't one of them.
With the window to sign Rubio to an extension fast approaching—they have until Oct. 31 to work out a new deal—the Timberwolves' head coach and president of basketball operations Flip Saunders has reportedly offered Ricky a new contract which he still wasn't satisfied with:
Rubio has been after a five-year contract with the Timberwolves, and though he’d like that deal to be a max, there is no doubt Minnesota won’t go that high. In fact, while it has been reported that the two sides are far apart on a number, you can get a sense of just how far — league sources told Sporting News that the Timberwolves’ best offer thus far has been four years in the range of $48 million.
We're not your agent, Rubio, but you may want to take the deal. You're not getting anywhere close to $85 million, so quit while you're ahead, fam.
