Paul Pierce Doesn't Want Celtics to Honor Isaiah Thomas on the Same Night as His Jersey Retirement

Paul Pierce just wants to enjoy the moment without seeing an Isaiah Thomas tribute video.

On Wednesday, Isaiah Thomas came back to Boston, the place he called home for the last three seasons. In the days leading up to his TD Garden return, Thomas made it clear that he didn't want the Celtics to play a tribute video for him. After all, IT may have still been harboring some ill will towards the organization that traded him this past offseason for Kyrie Irving.

But as they say, time heals all wounds, and after a productive conversation with Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, Thomas could receive his tribute video when the Cleveland Cavaliers return to Boston on Feb. 11. However, there's just one small problem. On that same night, the Celtics plan on retiring the No. 34 jersey worn by Paul Pierce and he doesn't want to see any highlights of IT in a C's jersey on the Jumbotron.

"On Feb. 11, the night I get my jersey retired, I’m not sure I wanna look up at the jumbotron and see Isaiah highlights after all the years I put in,” Pierce said. “I had a chance to watch Kobe throughout the game, the time outs, there was a lot of tribute videos for him and I enjoyed to watch that throughout the game. Now, hopefully, the Boston Celtics will do that for me, I’m not sure if I wanna see an Isaiah video."

That should settle it. The Celtics need to make Pierce happy over Thomas, especially on a night where they're acknowledging his years with the franchise.
