According to ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green would use "the guise of motivation" when confronting his teammates during games and practices, which led to many instances where players would need to be separated from one another. Now, a member of the Los Angeles Clippers after spending the last three years with the Warriors, Marreese Speights didn't hold back when discussing some behind closed doors issues regarding Green. "Draymond f***ed up practice and s**t," Speights said. "Draymond's a good guy, but I think at the end of the day, it hurt the whole chemistry of the year." Strauss also mentions that Green and Klay Thompson "got into it a lot."
Since Strauss' piece was published, Speights responded with a brief series of tweets, denying the quotes.
Green and Thompson have remained silent about the reaction to the piece. However, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr referred to the article as "old news," while reflecting on how his team is being perceived by everyone else. “It’s kind of old news for us,” Kerr said. “A lot of it is stuff that’s happened that’s already been covered. We’re the super villains now, so there’s going to be a lot more stories coming out.”
Regardless of who is right in this scenario, there has to be some sort of animosity towards Green from his Warriors teammates after he received a suspension in Game 5, which led to Golden State...wait for it...blowing a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.
