In light of reports that Lamar Odom was checking into a rehabilitation facility to maintain his sobriety, The Doctors aired a snippet of their interview with the 2011 NBA Sixth Man of the Year where he opened up about his drug overdose at a brothel in Nevada. “I wasn’t in a good place mentally, especially mentally before that incident happened,” Odom said. “Me and my wife at the time [Khloé Kardashian] were going through some things. I was in a dark place. They say everything happens for a reason, so I guess the reason is I’m here. I can tell the story."

When he woke up from a coma in the hospital, Odom didn't know what happened to him, but quickly realized that he couldn't speak. “I didn’t know until Khloé told me that I was in a coma,” Odom told Dr. Travis Stork. “I couldn’t even speak at the time. I couldn’t talk. Nothing would come out when I would open my mouth, so I was scared.” The snippet ends with Dr. Stork asking Odom to address rumors about him using drugs and alcohol since checking out of rehab.

After airing the brief clip, Dr. Stork revealed that the interview was conducted "a number of weeks ago." The rest of the interview won't be aired until Odom completes his rehab treatment and can appear on the show in person.

Hopefully, Odom gets the help he needs to ensure that he sticks to his sobriety.
