Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson apologized to the Buffalo Bills fan that he shoved during Sunday night's game.
While speaking with reporters earlier today, Jackson addressed the incident in which he shoved the fan in retaliation for hitting him and teammate DeAndre Hopkins on the helmet. The two-time NFL MVP confirmed he had a conversation with Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta about the matter, and explained his reaction was not meant to be malicious.
In addition to apologizing to the fan, Jackson advised him to "just chill next time," adding, "You can talk trash, but keep your hands to yourself."
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this week that the fan was not only ejected from the game following the incident, but he has been "indefinitely banned" from the Highmark Stadium where the Bills play their home games, and every other NFL stadium.
Following the Ravens' stunning 41-40 loss to the Bills, Jackson acknowledged that he should have let security handle the situation, instead of taking it into his own hands.
"He slapped me, and he was talking — so, I just forgot where I was for a little bit," he said, as reported by the New York Post. "You have to think in those situations. You have security out there; let security handle it. But I just let my emotions get the best of me. Hopefully, it doesn't happen again. I learned from that."
