Kevin Garnett Announces His Retirement From the NBA After 21 Seasons

Taken with the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Garnett put the organization on the map, leading the team to eight consecutive playoff appearances. After getting eliminated in the first round in seven straight seasons, Garnett finally took the Timberwolves to the next level during the 2003-04 campaign, thanks to the best numbers of his career. He averaged 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game that season. KG was rewarded with an MVP trophy.

In 2007, Garnett was shipped to the Boston Celtics after 12 years with the Timberwolves. KG joined Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to form a Big 3 that would capture an NBA title during their first season together. Following a brief stint with the Brooklyn Nets, The Big Ticket returned to Minnesota in 2015. Even though he clearly wasn't the same player he was the last time he had worn a Timberwolves jersey, KG played a pivotal role in taking Karl-Anthony Towns under his wing and helped mold him into the franchise's cornerstone player.
