Jon Jones Says He's Down to Be Friends With Daniel Cormier

After a long, storied rivalry with Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones wants to turn the chapter, and wouldn't mind working towards becoming friends. TMZ Sports caught up with Jones in New York City, and asked him about the possibility of burying the hatchet with Cormier.

"I would definitely like to have a respectful relationship with Cormier," Jones said. "It would be great to support each other's causes, charity events and maybe do an interview together and talk about one of the biggest rivalries in combat sports history."

Of course, forgiveness is a two-way street, and Jones would need Cormier to want to set aside their differences once and for all. Maybe DC is still reeling from his loss to Jones via knockout at UFC 214 in late July. Maybe DC isn't ready to forgive Jones for calling him "the lamest, biggest pussy I have ever met in my entire life" during a press conference in the months leading up to their initial showdown last year. The list goes on and on.

After defeating Cormier in UFC 214, Jones had nothing but good things to say about his opponent. "I want to take this time to thank Daniel Cormier for being my biggest rival and motivator," he said. "He has absolutely no reason to hang his head. He has been a model champion, a model husband, a model father, a teammate, a leader, and I aspire to be a lot more like that man, because he's an amazing human being."

In spite of all that, Jones understands that the odds of developing a friendship with Cormier are slim, adding, "I don't think he feels the same way."
