Jason Kelce has made it clear that he has a huge problem with the signature chant of US Soccer fans.
Speaking to his brother Travis on their New Heights podcast, Jason called it the "fucking most loser mentality chant I have ever heard in my entire life."
According to Yahoo! Sports, the "I believe that we will win" chant first took hold of US Soccer supporters over a decade ago. The chant became further amplified in ESPN commercials that aired before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
While the chant continues to go strong, Kelce believes there needs to be a rebrand after seeing how the Brazilian fans operated.
"I do remember distinctly thinking how much better, watching soccer, Brazilians were than Americans," Jason said. "You go to the World Cup as an American, they're like, 'I believe that we can win! I believe that we can win!' It's like, 'What the fuck are we here for?' That is the fucking most loser mentality chant I have ever heard in my entire life."
Jason admitted he has participated in the chant in the past, but "felt like a complete loser."
"So you're saying there's people that don't believe?" he said, adding: "It's just a weird fucking chant. It’s a fucking shitty chant."
Jason then referenced a moment when he realized Brazilian supporters had a different and "better" spirit.
"They're saying something like, 'Chi chi chi! Le le le!'" he recalled. "We asked one of the Brazilians, I said, 'What does that mean?' And they said, 'We came here to fuck Chile.' And I was like, 'Yeah, they're better at it. They're better at it than we are.'"
Jason Kelce suggested that US Soccer fans need to come up with better chants, saying: "We came here to fuck you guys. That’s what the mentality needs to be. Not like, 'I think that I can win.'"
He added: "It needs to be, 'I believe that we can fuck you up!'"
