When Kevin Durant met with the Golden State Warriors last Friday, the contingent stressed their motto "Strength in Numbers" which prioritized winning titles over personal accolades, but a text message from two-time MVP Steph Curry may have been the icing on the cake. According to The Undefeated, Curry sent a text to Durant after their meeting to remind him that, in his eyes, getting championships trumped everything else, including shoe sales, additional MVP trophies, etc.
Per The Undefeated:
If you need proof of Curry's dedication to winning, just take a look at his contract. With Durant onboard, Steph will now be the fourth-highest paid player on the Warriors at a bargain of $12.1 million next season. The two-time MVP is set to cash in when he becomes a free agent in 2017. But knowing Curry, he will probably take well below the max because team > money.
