According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins scheduled a second interview with former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase on Saturday. With no other candidate in line for a second interview, it became increasingly clear that the Dolphins felt like Gase was their guy. Today, they made it official and hired him to become their next head coach.
After spending four years as the Denver Broncos' wide receivers and quarterbacks coach, Gase was named the offensive coordinator in John Fox's second season as the team's head coach. In his first year as the OC, Gase helped lead Peyton Manning to record-setting 2013 campaign which included an NFL record 5,477 passing yards and 55 touchdowns.
When Fox went to take the reins in Chicago in 2015, Gase joined him for one year as the offensive coordinator. As one of the more attractive coaching candidates this offseason, the Dolphins were smart to act quick with six other teams searching for their next head coach.
At 37 years old, Gase will also become the youngest head coach in the league.
