Watch Derek Jeter's Jersey Retirement Ceremony

No. 2 is officially in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium.

From the moment Derek Jeter played his final career game at Yankee Stadium, delivering yet another clutch hit to propel the pinstripes to victory, it was a foregone conclusion that Jeter would be the last Yankee ever to wear the No. 2. After all, his resume speaks for itself. The Captain is the team's all-time leader in hits, singles, doubles, and stolen bases.

Prior to tonight's game against the Houston Astros, the Yankees retired Jeter's jersey, joining the likes of Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, and Babe Ruth. Before Jeter even stepped onto the field, the crowd started the "Derek! Jeter!" chant he heard throughout his 20-year MLB career. Driven onto the field in a cart, Jeter was accompanied by his sister Sharlee, his nephew, and wife Hannah as "My Way" by Frank Sinatra blared over the speakers.

After going back into the dugout to the current Yankees players, Jeter and his wife made their way up the steps to greet the crowd, as well as his former players, coaches, and more.

In addition to getting his jersey enshrined in Yankees' history, Jeter received a number of gifts.

Then, Jeter delivered a speech. Never one to say much, The Captain fought back tears as he thanked his teammates, family, and the Yankee faithful.

Among legends.
