It's now possible to register for a chance to buy tickets for the 2028 L.A. Olympics, but the website has faced "overwhelming interest" and "long wait times."
The website bore this message on January 14: "Your journey to LA28 starts here. Register for the LA28 Ticket Draw by March 18 for the opportunity to purchase tickets during Drop 1 or the LA & OKC Locals Presale."
The Olympics wrote on X, "Game on! Registration for the LA28 Ticket Draw* is open from January 14–March 18, 2026. We're here to take you through the process step-by-step to ensure you get across the finish line of registering for the draw."
Tickets will be sold "in multiple ticket drops," the Olympics website says. People selected in that lottery will receive a "time slot to purchase tickets during that drop or presale."
Fans complained about the problems on social media. "Tried to register for LA Olympics tickets. When I got through the first waiting room, it took me to a homepage. When I clicked register it started the waiting room again. It happened on phone and laptop. Not cool," wrote one person.
"The LA Olympics ticket draw is gonna be worse than getting Taylor Swift tickets isn't it," another person wrote.
The Olympics urged people to be patient in an X post, writing, "Thanks for your patience, we’ve looked into the matter. It is not a mistake if you’re being redirected to another queue. Your place in line will be maintained, and you will be able to register shortly."
