Shortly before the plane crash that killed former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife, Cristina, his two kids, and others, Cristina managed to send one tragic final message to her mom.

That's according to People, which reprinted the text. "We’re in trouble.”

"She texted me from the plane, and she said, 'We're in trouble.' And that was it," Cristina's mom, Cathy Grossu, told People. "So we're devastated. We're brokenhearted."

Seven people died in the plane crash according to the outlet. They were Greg, 55, Cristina, their son Ryder, 5, and Greg Biffle's's daughter Emma, 14, with his first wife. Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth were the other victims.

"To think that they would be killed on a birthday trip, that was just such a fun time for the family," Grossu told People. "And to see the horrific way that it ended, it's just, it is so hard to bear. I cannot believe they're gone."

Greg's last post on YouTube was a video about taking his wife on a date night. It was posted just days before they died.

According to TMZ, a video captured the moment the plane crashed on December 18 "near a runway at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina." The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Cristina was a real estate agent who filled her Instagram page with family photos.

"Life’s too short to spend it stuck in a cycle you don’t love. We only get one shot at this, and every sunrise is a reminder that the time is now," she wrote in September.

In June, she shared a photo with her son at the beach and wrote, "Here’s your reminder that Life has a way of reminding you not to take a single moment for granted."
