Terence Crawford explained that while having a child outside his relationship with his longtime partner, Alindra Person, wasn’t intentional, they were already having issues.
The former professional boxer discussed his relationship on the Tuesday (February 3) episode of The Pivot Podcast, along with the 2025 birth of his seventh child. With Pearson, the retired athlete has six children, and they’ve been together since the early 2000s.
Around the 39-minute mark of the episode, Crawford called stepping out on Pearson a “sticky situation” and said that he wouldn’t “bad mouth” her on social media.
“So, anything that she done to me, anything that we went through, I'm going to take it. I'm going to take it on the chin because that's what men do. But if we
if we being a thousand percent real, I should have left a long time ago,” he said.
“Men stay, women leave. But to cover that up, we wasn't even together
when I had got my other baby mama pregnant. We was living together and things like that, but we wasn't together,” he added.
“Not saying that it's cool, not saying it's okay, but men have babies outside of their relationship every day. This is nothing new. … Women too,” he continued.
Crawford then insinuated that he didn’t deserve full criticism for having an outside child and said that the public doesn’t understand what happened between him and Pearson. The former boxer also shared that he wouldn’t neglect a seventh child despite the situation putting him in a negative light.
“I can't just sit there and blatantly disown my son on national TV,” Crawford said. “Just think of if you was that that boy and fifteen years later they pulling up this clip and you you not claiming me. You disowning me. You know, you gonna be like, ‘Damn, dad.’”
Crawford was a guest on an April 2025 episode of Club Shay Shay and recalled Pearson being upset upon being told that he was having a seventh child, although he couldn’t “lie” about it. “I’m just a man,” he said on the podcast.
